On your path to success, you will periodically burn out, especially if you take it too seriously, overextending yourself in a rush to get to the finish line. But keep in mind that work will always be a part of your life, in one form or another, so take the time to let loose a little, and enjoy the moment.
Embrace pointlessness. Boom! Not everything has to have a purpose. Sometimes the best purpose is no purpose at all. I enjoy telling people made-up stories just to see how far I can go. Like last year I told my little cousin that Santa Claus would buy her a pony for Christmas. When the day came and she didn’t get one, I laughed at her for being so gullible, she cried, and then ran away from home. She went missing for so long that we had to enlist the help of our entire neighborhood community to finally find her. And when she got home, I told her Santa Claus didn’t get her the pony because she was an evil child that needed to learn how to be more useful around the house. She cried like a pathetic worm and ran away again…
Flirt, just for the sake of flirting. Enjoy talking to women, even if there is no possibility of it going anywhere. What’s better than talking to an attractive woman? Why, I can only think of one thing… blogging, of course.
Enjoy the day-to-day successes. Don’t wait to be New York Times Bestseller, Nobel Prize Laureate, and Miss USA before you give yourself permission to feel good. I write my blog because it’s fun. It’s a lot of work, but I wouldn’t do it unless I was also having a great time. When I reread my posts, I sometimes catch myself grinning like a big, happy, narcissistic baby.
Take your journey to excellence, to mastery, to constant and never-ending growth. Get good at whatever it is you want to get good at, but don’t forget to have fun!
Bla-blam!
You appear to be talking about having a creative life, which is a open-ended approach to life. Living a life which is sustainable, that is seeing life as an energy system obeying the laws of thermodynamics, strategies can be followed that will enable the self to live a happy, healthy and abundant life without burning out.
