Fireworks

I’m very excited to announce that my blog has just reached 10,000 views!

I want to thank all of my readers for following my blog. Sometimes it may seem as if I will stop posting, but rest assured that I will not! Eventually, I would like to reach a point that a new reader will not have the time to read all of my old posts while simultaneously keeping up with new posts.

Next goal:  25,000 views

New Domain Name

Gears in motion

Hey guys,

I’ve been busy doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work on my blog, including now, a new domain name!  Please update your bookmarks and watch as my blog climbs back up to the top of Google’s search engine ranking.

I’ve also been busy working on my life: losing weight, social and career networking, exploring Los Angeles with my girlfriend, etc.  But don’t worry, I’ll be back soon with many more posts for you guys!

A Quick Thank You

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone for reading and following my blog.  Writing for an audience is waaay more rewarding than just keeping a journal.

Thank you to the enthusiastic readers that go back and reread my old posts!  Some of you have already noticed that I do occassionally update my old posts both stylistically and content-wise.  In fact, the second half of my most recent post has already been rewritten.

Special thanks to my commenters, especially Traci Kay, Alex Jones, Mona Lisa, and pinkyjumper123 for your many comments.

And thank you to JJ for your epic comments.

Love

An old-style typewriter

The following is a letter I wrote to a friend a while back. I never sent it, but I’m sharing it now because I feel it applies to pretty much anyone who is having trouble moving forward in their lives.
*****

You will never be able to move forward with your life if you are still stuck in the past. Stop replaying old memories. Stop hanging onto old habits. I know it’s painful, but you must always move forward with your life. Never backwards.

Never regret the decisions you’ve made. Given your emotional state and level of knowledge at that time, you made the best decision you could have possibly made. Make peace with it. Remind yourself why you took this path instead of the other one. Now look forward and take a step. Don’t look over your shoulder in regret and nostalgia. Chin up. Eyes at the horizon. And keep walking.

To understand what I’m working on, see entry 1.

Apparently, waking up a mere 5 minutes early to make my bed is considerably more difficult than I had thought. For the first 4 days, I started out making my bed just fine, but by the 5th day I started to slip. Knowing that I didn’t really have to wake up early, I would hit the snooze button on my phone, giving me another 10 minutes of shut-eye. Now, not only was I not making my bed, but I was also showing up to work 2-3 minutes late!

When I’m only getting 6-7 hours of sleep a night, my groggy, half-conscious mind seems to prefer a few minutes of rest over a nicely made bed. I know I really need 8-9 hours each night, but the problem is I’m always going to bed so late. My solution for the time being will be to set a phone alarm at night that will alert me when it’s time to wrap up whatever I’m doing and hit the hay. Maybe then I won’t have a problem waking up a little early to make my bed. Let’s see how that goes…
